Yep. It's true. And, true to my word, I gave up my Council seat after two 4-year terms.
According to the last five national polls on this issue, 82 percent of Americans want term limits. That includes support from 89 percent of Republicans, 76 percent of Democrats and 83 percent of independents.

Term Limits ensure greater fiscal responsibility and lower taxes. The longer politicians stay in office, the more of our tax dollars they spend. Term Limits reduce corruption and open our government to new people with new ideas to solve our problems.
I believe the system would be much healthier if it was periodically cleansed by law. No more career politicians.
The State of Minnesota played a part in the term limiting of the President. On February 27, 1951, the 22nd Amendment was ratified, limiting the number of terms served by the President. Minnesota was the 36th state to approve the proposed constitutional change, pushing the 22nd Amendment over the three-quarters threshold needed for it to be ratified.
The move ended a controversy over Franklin Roosevelt's four elected terms to the White House. The approval process started nearly four years earlier when a
Republican-controlled Congress championed the amendment after Franklin Roosevelt won four consecutive terms in the White House.

Term limits are the right thing to do.
